Personal profile

Dr Shwe Zin Chit Pan qualified from the Institute of Medicine (I), Yangon, in 2002 with Distinctions in Medicine and Paediatrics before she moved to the UK. She completed her SHO medical rotation in West Midlands. She was awarded MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2005.   She undertook her higher Specialist Training in Endocrinology and Diabetes and General Medicine from 2007 at the hospitals in Reading, Derby, Luton, Cambridge, and Huntingdon.

 Upon completing senior Specialist Registrar post at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2014, she obtained CCT and MRCP in Endocrinology and Diabetes. During her specialist training, she developed special interests in diabetic foot disease, inpatient diabetes management, diabetes and endocrine disorders in pregnancy, electrolyte disturbances, adrenal, pituitary, thyroid and parathyroid diseases. Dr Pan co-authored Oxford Handbook of Endocrinology and Diabetes 3rd Edition (2014).   Dr Pan was awarded Distinction for her Master of Science degree in Endocrinology and Diabetes from the William Harvey Research Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London in 2014.  

Dr Pan was appointed as a Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Bedford Hospital in February 2014. Dr Pan is the lead Consultant for inpatient diabetes care at Bedford Hospital. She currently runs general diabetes clinic and diabetic foot clinic. She also provides Acute Medicine Consultant support to acute medical patients and general medical patients.   Dr Pan has attended Postgraduate Course in Medical Education, University of Bedfordshire, and actively involves in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
