Dr Simon Allard is a Consultant Physician specialising in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He trained in Medicine at University College London. He has been a Consultant at the West Middlesex University Hospital for nearly 30 years. He is an honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine.
He has previously held a number of national administrative roles including Secretary of the British Society for Rheumatology. For the Royal College of Physicians, he has been Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Rheumatology as well as Programme Director for Rheumatology Training.
His research interests have included pathological mechanisms of joint damage in arthritis (the subject of his MD doctorate). He has also had an interest in the relationship between the mind and musculoskeletal disorders (a legacy of having a BSc in Psychology) and gives lectures regularly on this subject.
