Mr Simon Hardy qualified at the University of Leeds in 1982 and subsequently trained in surgery successively in Leeds, London and Manchester.
He was appointed as Consultant Surgeon at the Blackburn Royal Infirmary in 1996. His research focus was in lower limb ischaemia which he presented papers in Amsterdam, Barcelona and London. He has also travelled to Frankfurt to learn a new technique for treating patients with limb ischaemia.
Mr Simon Hardy’s interests include deep venous surgery and he visited Norway and Italy to learn two different ways of repairing valves. His practice is in vascular surgery and he is particularly interested in minimally invasive varicose vein surgery.
Along with a Consultant Radiologist Mr Hardy introduced the Endovascular Aneurysm Programme in Blackburn, which has now treated over 200 patients. He was the first surgeon to perform carotid endarterectomies in Blackburn.
