Mr Fogerty graduated with honours from Sheffield University Medical School in 2001. At the end of his general orthopaedic training in Yorkshire, he undertook a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine, gaining in depth knowledge about the athlete and best treatments for their injuries. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust in June 2014. There he has a general trauma practice but on the planned care side he offers a comprehensive shoulder and elbow service.
He adopts a pragmatic approach to problem solving, tailors the solution to the individual and ensures the patient understands and can influence their treatment journey wherever possible. He is keen to explore all options regarding a patient’s treatment, offering both non-operative and operative therapies where appropriate. His elective practice includes all arthroplasty (joint replacement) and arthroscopy (key-hole) surgery to the shoulder and elbow. In particular he offers both anatomic (traditional) and reverse polarity shoulder replacements.
On the arthroscopic side he is a specialist in rotator cuff surgery and instability treatments, including the arthroscopic Latarjet procedure. He also offers open surgery for conditions around the elbow such as tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) and ulnar nerve entrapment.
