As a Cheshire based Consultant Ophthalmologist in Private Practice for 15 years, Mr Simon Walker is pleased to offer a comprehensive general ophthalmic service, with sub-speciality interest areas including paediatric eye care, oculo-motility disorders and neuro-ophthalmology.
Over the last 25 years, Mr Walker has built up extensive experience in all things ocular. His particular surgical expertise lies in cataract and squint surgery, with a track record for excellent results. Mr Walker stakes his professional reputation on perfectionism, thoroughness and safety.
Mr Walker hails from Chester, and went up to study medicine at Sheffield University in 1988. During this time, he ventured to Krishnankoil Rural Eye Hospital in South India for an influential elective period, and won a national award, The Duke-Elder Prize, in 1993.
Thereafter, Mr Walkers post-graduate ophthalmic specialist training took place over 10 years. He was a Senior House Officer at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow and a Specialist Registrar at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Mr Walker also gained additional Fellowship experience at King's College and St Thomas' Hospitals in London.
Mr Walker was appointed to his current NHS position as Consultant Ophthalmologist at Leighton and Macclesfield Hospitals in 2004, settling in the village of Hartford. He spends his free time with his family - they enjoy travelling, swimming, walking, cycling, gardening, music, theatre and cinema, he also takes green issues seriously and campaigns for the countryside.
