Mr. Stefan Isopescu FRCS (Tr.& Orth.) Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon I qualified from medical school in Berlin, Germany, and completed the Birmingham Higher Surgical Trainee Rotation in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham) in June 2004. Following that I spent another 6 months at the ROH Birmingham to extend my training in Hip Reconstruction, mainly in young patients. I received my CCST in September 2004.
My main interest is hip and knee arthroplasty, including resurfacing replacement in the younger patient. I also use unicondylar knee replacements for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee. I am familiar with a variety of implants and prefer cementless hip replacements in patients younger than 75 years but would use resurfacing replacements, if possible, in patients of 65 years and younger. I also do knee arthroscopies and more basic forefoot surgery, i.e. hallux valgus correction, etc.
