Dr Stephen-Douglas-Rex-Consultant Cardiologist

Personal Profile

Dr Stephen Rex trained in London and after further specialist training at Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospitals, he was appointed as an NHS Consultant Cardiologist serving the population of East Berkshire and South Bucks in 2004. Since then he has been central to the development of local advanced cardiac services including interventional cardiology (angioplasty/stenting) and the implantation of complex permanent pacemaker and defibrillator devices.

In 2005, Dr Rex co-founded Windsor Cardiology with his colleague, Dr Khalid Barakat. The Company was established to provide a comprehensive private cardiology service to the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire population. The philosophy of the company is to deliver the highest stand of cardiac care to the local area, minimising the need to travel long distances for tests and treatment.

We offer a completely local “one stop” service to patients and assess and treat the full range of cardiac conditions. We also advise on strategies for cardiac disease prevention. Assessments, investigations and treatments are arranged for a range of symptoms which might be indicative of an underlying heart condition, such as chest pain, palpitations, dizziness and fainting, heart murmurs and heart valve problems, high blood pressure (hypertension), breathlessness and suspected heart failure.

Windsor Cardiology is a recognised by all of the major medical insurance companies as a provider for assessment and treatment of all significant cardiac conditions. Dr Rex is a member of the BUPA Consultant Partnership scheme.
