Personal profile

Mr Winder is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the NHS at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. He has an established private practice at Thornbury Hospital.

He studied medicine at St. Thomas' Hospital in London. He gained postgraduate experience in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Nottingham and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, where he completed a Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal surgery. A Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal disorders and an experienced small incision Cataract Surgeon. He is also the Clinical Director of the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

He has presented at international meetings and published in numerous journals.  He is a reviewer for the British Journal of Ophthalmology and Eye journals and chaired the sub-specialty committee on the production of vitreo-retinal patient information leaflets. He has a Masters Degree in Medical Education and has worked for the Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board. He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield.
