Mr Rhys-Williams gained his Fellowship in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care prior to specialising in ENT.
To achieve a level of accomplishment and experience to his exacting standards, he also qualified in General Surgery gaining his Fellowship, and subsequently his third Fellowship in ENT from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of Edinburgh. Prior to his appointment as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals he trained at centres of excellence which included the position of Visiting Lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, secondments to the Mayo Clinic, USA, Memorial Sloan Head and Neck Cancer in New York, Cincinnati Hospital for Sick Children, USA. His triple Fellowships and international training have been the foundation for his wide surgical repertoire and his continuation to innovate and perfect new techniques.
Following appointment as a Consultant he started the now very successful Head and Neck Cancer service with a Consultant Maxillofacial colleague.
He introduced endoscopic sinus surgery to Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals and has trained many surgeons in this field.
Weekly Ear Clinics for the management of tinnitus, hearing loss, dizziness and chronic ear disease are also part of his general repertoire.
He developed a special interest in the voice and has treated renowned singers, and lectured widely on this topic.
He has built a huge experience and expertise in the medical and surgical management of children with ENT problems.
