Mr Stuart Robertson
Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon
MBChB, MRCS, MD, National Oncoplastic Fellowship, FRCS
Practices at: BMI The Meriden Hospital
Following qualification at The University of Edinburgh in 2000, he was trained in the main teaching hospitals of Edinburgh, Oxford, and Hampshire. He was awarded an MD higher degree for his research at the Nuffield Department of Surgery in Oxford, which won two international prizes. At the end of his training, he also won a very prestigious National Oncoplastic and Reconstruction Fellowship approved by the Royal College of Surgeons, providing highly specialised additional training in the very latest breast and plastic surgery techniques.
He specialises in all aspects of breast care, ranging from assessment and management of breast symptoms (such as breast lumps, pain, nipple changes, nipple discharge etc) through to procedures to improve the appearance of the breasts and nipples (such as breast enlargement, breast reduction, breast lifts, nipple appearance surgery etc).
He has a special interest in breast cancer oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, utilising his breast plastic surgery skills to optimise the breast appearance after breast cancer surgery. This might range from placing the scar in a more hidden or remote location, through to replacing the excised tissue if need be, through to performing a breast reduction at the same time as a lumpectomy for larger breasts. He can provide symmetrising surgery following breast cancer treatment. This might involve injection of fat droplets into the breast (lipofilling), using chest wall perforator flaps (fat-flaps) to replace tissue, or performing a contralateral breast enlargement, reduction, or lift to help match the other side. If a mastectomy is required, he can also offer full breast reconstruction, either in the immediate or delayed setting. For women at a high lifetime risk of developing breast cancer, he can offer risk-reducing surgery and reconstruction.
His cosmetic/aesthetic breast surgery practice offers breast surgery procedures to improve the appearance of the breast, such as breast reduction surgery or breast enlargement surgery (breast augmentation), and he has a special interest in breast reduction surgery. He can also perform nipple procedures, such as correction of nipple inversion, areola reduction, nipple reconstruction surgery, or surgery to remove accessory / additional nipples. When booking an appointment, it is very helpful if you can indicate if you are coming for an aesthetic breast surgery consultation.
He also has an interest in helping men with breast enlargement, and will offer assessment to look for possible underlying causes, and can discuss both medical and surgical management options. In addition to breast surgery and plastic breast surgery, Mr Robertson is also a fully trained general surgeon and can offer removal of skin lumps such as lipomas (fatty lumps under the skin) and sebaceous skin cysts etc.
He works in a Multi-Disciplinary Team to offer a comprehensive joined up breast care service, and more information about this can be found on his website warwickshirebreastclinic.com. He is a member of the Association of Breast Surgery and participates in national research trials to continually improve cancer care.
