Mr Suhail Anwar is a Consultant general surgeon, with a specialist interest in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery.
He undertook his basic and higher surgical training in Manchester and was awarded a higher degree in colorectal genetics by Keele University. Mr Anwar visited the world renowned Mayo clinic in Minnesota and Cleveland clinic in Ohio, USA- on two separate scholarships. He is honorary senior lecturer for Leeds University and examiner for the surgical MRCS exams.
Mr Anwar specialises in colorectal surgery. He does key hole surgery for bowel cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and colitis. He performs specialist procedures such as laparoscopic rectopexy for rectal prolapse and constipation and sphincter repairs, caused by the damage through childbirth.
Mr Anwar has pioneered haemorrhoid surgery and has introduced procedures such as stapled haemorrhoidectomy and THD, which result in minimal post-operative pain and discomfort and early return to work.
Mr Anwar has specialist interest in hernia and gallbladder surgery. He performs keyhole groin, abdominal and parastomal hernia repairs. He carries out abdominal wall reconstructions for large abdominal wall defects and hernias.
Mr Anwar is an academic and is widely published. He is on the editorial board of many medical and scientific journals.
In his spare time, he enjoys golf.
