Personal Profile

Ms Sumita Nayak, MD, FRCOG is presently working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Wexham Park Hospital, being part of Frimley Health NHS Trust. She has more than 25 years of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) experience having qualified in 1997.

Since 2016, She has been leading the gynaecology cancer service (Gynae-oncology team) at Wexham Park Hospital chairing the weekly local multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT). She is experienced in managing women with suspected gynaecological cancer symptoms, post-menopausal bleeding, complex ovarian cysts and abnormal smears. She is also an accredited colposcopist and trainer with more than 10 years of colposcopy experience.

She is experienced in minimal access surgery, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy (keyhole surgery) for early endometrial cancer, laparoscopic bilateral salphingo-oophorectomy for complex cysts and hysteroscopic surgery for heavy periods (ablation and endometrial resection), fibroids (hysteroscopic resection, open myomectomy and hysterectomy), endometriosis (medical and surgical management including Helica ablation), ovarian cysts (laparoscopic cystectomy for benign cysts and endometriomas).

She holds ‘Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching & Learning for Health Professionals’ (TLHP) and ‘Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound’ . She was also the RCOG (Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) College Tutor in her hospital responsible for training of junior doctors progressing to become O&G consultants in UK and was awarded the RCOG regional trainer of the year twice in a row in 2020 and 2021 in Oxford Deanery. She was also accorded Frimley Health NHS Trust VIP (Value into Practice) award for kindness and professionalism in March 2021. In 2023, she was awarded local clinical excellence prize by Frimley Health NHS Trust for all round performance.
