Having been a consultant at the King Edward VII Hospital Windsor and Royal Berkshire Hospitals NHS Trust for many years, he is now based at the independent Windsor Eye Clinic. Mr Kheterpal has led the development of many new techniques and services both in the NHS and in the private sector including services for diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and laser cataract surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the UK to undertake thermal laser and photodynamic laser for macular degeneration and was one of the pioneers for introduction of lucentis in the Thames Valley.
His special interests are in refractive surgery; refractive cataract surgery (especially premium specialised and multifocal lens implants); retina and macular degeneration; eyelid plastic surgery; and all aspects of general ophthalmology. Mr Kheterpal has undertaken cataract surgery for 26 years and has undertaken many thousands of procedures. His first multifocal lens implant was in 1998 and he has performed laser eye surgery since 1992.
Mr Kheterpal’s practice covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Hampshire and London and is the longest established consultant at The Princess Margaret Hospital, , and the most senior consultant in East Berkshire,consulting since 1999. Appointments at the Princess Margaret Hospital are available Tuesdays and Fridays and at other locations on other days.
Working now full time in independent practice, Mr Kheterpal and his clinical teams are able to give an unrivalled level of clinical care and service every working day of the week.
Mr Kheterpal regularly lectures at local, national and international meetings; is a reviewer for national and international medical journals and holds memberships and fellowships for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Royal College of Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology and European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
