Mr Hyder worked as a Consultant at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth prior to assuming the post of Consultant laparoscopic colorectal and general surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn in June 2016.
Mr Hyder completed his basic surgical training in Dublin and Limerick in Ireland. After moving to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust to carry out research, he completed his higher surgical training from the Oxford Deanery surgical rotation and was extensively trained in both open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.
In order to build upon his skills and further enhance his surgical knowledge and operating techniques, Mr Hyder has been to many countries during his training including USA, Canada, Netherlands, Germany, France and Singapore just to name a few. Furthermore, he has presented vastly, in major regional, national and international meetings.
Mr Hyder was awarded a travelling fellowship from the Royal Society of Medicine, to travel to Prague, Czech Republic to present. He has also spent some time at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada, which is an internationally renowned leading centre for the management of inflammatory bowel disease.
He has a special interest in diagnostic, therapeutic and advanced colonoscopy and OGD. In addition, he has been a JAG certified endoscopic trainer since 2010. He has been a trainer on laparoscopic courses and has been teaching faculty on other surgical skills courses.
