Personal profile

Mr Pathmanathan was educated at Cheltenham College and obtained his medical degree from the University of Cambridge in 1986. He then spent 4 months as a expedition doctor on the San Rafael glacier in Southern Chile. Following this he started his ophthalmic training in St Barts in London and then moved through Southampton, St Thomas’s Hospital, London and Liverpool, before going to the University of Toronto for his glaucoma fellowship.

Mr Pathmanathan spent a year training under Professor Graham Trope concentrating on the medical, laser and surgical management of glaucoma during which time he did research and published papers on glaucoma Mr Pathmanathan has been a consultant ophthalmologist since 1999.
