Dr Kearney qualified in medicine from University of London (UCH and Middlesex) in 1992, where she also undertook an intercalated BSc in Pharmacology and then completed her post-graduation training in North West London area. She completed her research degree at St. Mary’s Hospital London and became a consultant in 2002.She is dual accredited in General Internal medicine and Endocrinology.

She has led and developed the endocrine unit at Salford since 2005, such that this is now a major Endocrine unit of national acclaim, providing care locally, regionally and for some services nationally. She holds national roles within the Society of Endocrinology and other affiliated organisations. She chairs the Regional Pituitary Multidisciplinary meeting (MDT), the North West Endocrine Society, co-chairs the Complex endocrine and Adrenal MDT and is a member of the regional paraganglioma MDT.

She continues to train registrars in complex endocrinology, has an active research portfolio studying a wide range of endocrine conditions and enjoys her national role in supporting people with complex endocrine conditions by developing information leaflets, setting up support groups and signposting people to get better care.

Dr Kearneys clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and management of disorders of the pituitary, adrenal, parathyroid, thyroid, gynae-endocrinology (including PCOS, Premature Ovarian Failure, menopause, PMDD), testes,  in addition to metabolic dysfunction (osteoporosis, disorders of sodium, glucose, calcium, vitamin D, and other minerals).

She provides a holistic service, individualising care to address the wider needs of her patients. She works with people to improve health in its wider sense, and believes that developing a strong relationship with people in necessary to do that. Her many years as a clinician have enhanced her skills in this area.
