Prof Tom Farrell

Personal profile

Tom Farrell is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based at the Royal Hallamshire  in Sheffield. He was appointed a consultant in 2001, having trained in Scotland and New Zealand.

Tom publishes widely in all aspects of obstetric and gynaecological care and obtained his MD from the University of Dundee in 2005.

His current role involves aspects of education. Tom is currently Training Programme Director for School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Yorkshire. As part of his education interests he is a Fellow of Sheffield Hallam University and is Director for the annual GP Gynaecology Conference based in Sheffield.

He is happily married with two young boys.

Clinical Interests

Hysteroscopic and laparoscopic management of the following gynaecological conditions:

  • Menstrual disorders

  • Endometrial cysts and pelvic pain

  • Ovarian cyst management

  • Fibroids

  • Prolapse/urinary incontinence

Mr Farrell also offers consultation for the following gynaecological symptoms:

  • Pre-menstrual symptoms

  • Cervical screening

  • Well-woman health check

  • Contraceptive and hormone replacement advice

  • Vulval problems

Mr Farrell also offers pregnancy ultrasound and private obstetric care.
