Personal profile

Dr Tosin Otunla qualified from the University of Lagos in 1987. He completed his paediatric and neonatal postgraduate training in the United Kingdom and Canada. He acquired knowledge, expertise and experience in various institutions including the Southampton University Hospital where he undertook his cardiology training at the Wessex Cardiothoracic Centre and his neonatal training at the Princess Ann Hospital.

He undertook a Neonatal Fellowship at the British Columbia Women & Children Hospital in Vancouver before returning to the United Kingdom to complete his residency.

He is a specialist paediatrician with subspecialty accreditation as a neonatologist. He also has expertise in non-invasive cardiology and is skilled in echocardiography as well as the evaluation of standard, exercise and ambulatory ECGs. He holds an honorary consultant contract at The Royal Brompton Hospital where he networks with paediatric cardiology specialists.

Since 2005, he has held a substantive consultant post in neonatal paediatrics at Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey where he is the lead clinician for the Neonatal Transfer Service as well as joint clinical lead for paediatric cardiology. He has been a speaker at numerous professional meetings and study days and enjoys teaching.
