I am a full time hand and wrist surgery consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust in Yorkshire, and working in the private sector. I am committed to providing a dedicated and specialist service for people with hand and wrist problems. This includes both chronic, and trauma related injuries.

In 2004 I qualified from the University of Leicester, then completed both my membership (MRCS, 2007) and fellowship (FRCS, 2013) exams with the Royal College of Surgeons. In addition I completed an MSc (2011) in orthopaedic surgery.

In 2012 I was awarded an educational bursary award by The Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2014-15, I completed one of 11 nationally competitive advanced training programme hand and wrist surgery fellowships in Manchester, which are recognised by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) as the best hand surgery training programmes. I worked for three highly experienced hand and wrist surgery consultants, one of whom was the president of the BSSH at that time. Currently I perform in excess of 500 hand and wrist surgery operations per year, as recorded in my surgical logbook.

As I am keen to remain up to date with techniques and research, I regularly attend the BSSH scientific meetings. My last systematic review of the evidence for surgical treatment of STT joint wrist arthritis was published in The Journal of Hand Surgery (AP volume). I presented this evidence at the BSSH scientific meeting in Bath.

I teach medical students, physios and orthopaedic doctors in the specialism of hand and wrist problems, diagnosis, and treatment. This also involves staying up to date with evolving evidence and new treatment approaches. In addition I help with assessing doctors prior to their specialist orthopaedic exams.

A list of the conditions that I commonly treat includes:

· Carpal tunnel surgery (median nerve)

· CMC joint OA, base of thumb arthritis, and STT joint arthritis, PIP joint fusion, small joint PIP and DIP joint OA fingers

· Cubital tunnel syndrome (ulnar nerve)

· Fasciotomy, fasciectomy, dermofasciectomy, ray amputation

· Hand and finger arthritis
