Personal profile

Dr Vladimir Gorelov is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain. He obtained his medical degree from the 1st Moscow Medical Institute in 1985.

Dr Gorelov went on to receive standard UK training in anaesthesia and pain management from 1998 to 2006, which included a 1 year-out programme at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

From April 2006, Dr Gorelov has been a consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Gorelov has a PhD for research in histopathology of Respiratory Failure. He is also an international examiner for the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.

Clinical Interests

  • Spinal Pain syndromes- assessment and anatomical diagnosis: back pain, neck pain, upper and lower limb radicular pain (sciatica), sacroiliac joint pain, coccyx pain.

  • Minimally Invasive Spinal Interventions: diagnostic spinal blocks, radiofrequency ablation (denervation, rhizolysis, thermocoagulation) .

  • Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of complex headaches/facial pain: cervicogenic headache, occipital neuralgia, autonomic cephalalgias, cluster headache, refractory migraine.

  • Trigeminal neuralgia and Trigeminal ganglion procedures.
