Pioneering surgical practice

Mr Olarinde uses the most up to date diagnostic endoscopic equipment for throat and voice complaints to ensure patients suspected to have cancer are thoroughly assessed. At Thornbury Hospital, this involves the use of narrow band imaging technology during endoscopy which he routinely uses to assess patients. His team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital have pioneered the digital archiving of endoscopic images for comparison to help early detection of recurrent throat cancer and facilitate the sharing of images with other health care professionals who are involved in the care of head and neck cancer patients.
Mr Olarinde has pioneered day case thyroid and parathyroid surgery in his NHS practice in Chesterfield. This is replicated in his private practice at Thornbury Hospital when appropriate and safe. He has also popularised laser procedures to improve swallowing in patients with benign swallowing conditions.
