Personal Profile

Will Gietzmann began his medical training at the University of Cambridge gaining his intercalated degree in Medical Sciences and the History and Philosophy of Science in 2007. He completed his clinical studies at Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, London graduating in 2010.

He undertook his core surgical training in Sussex before completing his higher surgical training in the East of Scotland rotating through hospitals in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Dundee. After undertaking a locum consultant post at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary he moved to Oxford to take up his substantive post. Whilst training in Scotland he developed a sub specialist interest in open and minimally invasive (key hole) surgery for kidney cancer. Since beginning his subspecialised practice in Oxford he has developed expertise in robotic surgery.

Clinical Interests

Will has a high volume practice treating and diagnosing kidney cancer in Oxford. He also works in Milton Keynes University Hospital supporting the kidney cancer service there but also seeing a high volume of patients with other urological cancers including suspected prostate cancer, bladder cancer and testicular cancer.

He has a wide experience of non cancerous conditions including problems with the foreskin, scrotal swellings, kidney stones and of course benign prostate and bladder problems such as an enlarged prostate, recurrent urinary tract infection, prostatitis, chronic pain and incontinence. Will also performs local and general anaesthetic vasectomies.
