Dr Gordon received his training in South Africa, followed by his specialist career in England. He spent five years as a researcher at St Barts Hospital. This led to many scientific publications and two of the research projects are still in daily use (screening for Down’s syndrome and testing D-Dimer to detect deep vein thrombosis). He has practiced as a consultant gynaecologist since 1978. In addition, Dr Gordon was a founder member of the Active Birth movement, helping to introduce water birth to the UK. He also founded The Birth Unit in London.
Dr Gordon believes in holistic, integrated healthcare. Currently he uses conventional high-tech diagnosis and treatment combined with bio-identical hormone replacement (BHRT), nutritional advice, exercise and emotional support to provide a wide spectrum of choices for prevention and cure. This approach has been particularly successful for fertility and preconception as well as a range of gynaecological disorders such as menstrual dysfunction, pelvic pain and the menopause. Dr Gordon’s special interest is the use of BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone treatment) because these hormones are safe and effective in relieving symptoms before and after menopause.
