As a former army commando, I have always had a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a willingness to listen and learn.
This early experience formed the basis of my perpetual work ethic, whilst ensuring I always retained a lively sense of humour.
With a refreshed air of confidence in my ability, I then returned to full-time education, completing my BA (Hons) Recreation at Herriot-Watt University.
Since that period my working career has always been focussed on fitness, wellbeing and healthcare delivery.
Over the last 15 years I have been focussed on the provision of corporate health and wellbeing initiatives.
Previous roles in this sector have included; Regional Director, managing an extensive and complex portfolio of international corporate clients, delivering a range of on-site and national services such as health assessments, physiotherapy, primary care and occupational health.
Most recently, as Head of Employee Wellbeing. implementing employee health and wellbeing strategies both to corporate clients and their employees. Ensuring a joined up approach to corporate health and wellbeing, through robust extended pathways, enhanced customer service and strong client relationships.
There are few enlightened companies who continually focus on developing a culture of health throughout the organisation, where the employee is considered as important as its customers.
In these organisations, there is the simple belief that, if employees are "healthy and happy" and buy into the brand strategy of the organisation, then they in turn will put in maximum effort.
For a number of years I was always aware that BMI Healthcare was the UK's largest independent healthcare provider.
With comprehensive national coverage and the widest range of consultant specialities, they have a hospital network able to offer more employees the opportunity to fast access, medical advice and onward clinical referrals, if necessary.
I was also aware of their 2020 Vision to provide compelling health products to their corporate clients and their own employees.
With a clear focus and appetite on providing quality healthcare services for corporate clients, I was extremely interested in joining the team. So when the opportunity arose, I grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
I have to admit that I have been made so welcome, I am looking forward to my career within BMI Healthcare.
We have ambitious plans for HealthFirst, with a key objective of providing a range of compelling healthcare services for the corporate market.
Focussing on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and maintenance of key health concerns. With our 5 year plan in place, we are clear on our final destination.
In a year from now I would like to see 3 things:
- for HealthFirst to be recognised as the leading provider for all corporate healthcare services in the UK
- for HealthFirst to offer a range of innovative healthcare services that meet the demand of both organisations and employees, whilst ensuring a bespoke partnership approach to all of our corporate clients
- for HealthFirst to enhance positive working cultures, that enable employees to both be productive in the workplace, but the ability to also enjoy their personal time with family and friends
