Seshadri Sriprasad, a Consultant Urological Surgeon at BMI Fawkham Manor Hospital, was recently appointed Professor of Urology at Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU). He has been the visiting Professor of Urology and the Programme Director for the MCh in Surgery (Urology) at the Institute of Medical Sciences since 2015.
“There are only a few Professors of Urology in the South of England and to even be asked to apply for this position was a real honour” says Professor Sriprasad. He plays a pivotal role in training surgeons in the region and works with Urologists specialising in areas such as urologic oncology, and endourology as part of their fellowship and Masters. He heads the MCH in Urology programme for the CCCU. In the past three years he has supported and trained at least 8 fellows.
Professor Sriprasad is also leading translational research into urological conditions at CCU. In 2016, his team won the AUA Best Paper Prize for their research into the NGAL protein. “This will have practical uses in hospitals” he explains. “Preliminary results suggest that this protein may speed up the identification of patients requiring urgent treatment for kidney blockages due to stones.’’
Professor Sriprasad founded the Stone Centre at Fawkham Manor hospital where he offers acute care and elective surgery at short notice. He is experienced in all urological faculties including; laser, keyhole surgery and metabolic stone consulting. He offers weekly clinics with appointments that are also available under the NHS ‘Choose and Book’ programme.
We would like to wish Professor Sriprasad all the best for the future and thank him for his continued support of Fawkham Manor Hospital.
