breast care At BMI Goring Hall Hospital we have Consultant Breast Surgeons who offer a full range of breast services from diagnosis to treatment and follow up care. You will be assigned a named consultant who will manage your care throughout the course of your treatment.

The areas that will be offered as personalised screening is as follows:

  • Clinical examination
  • Mammogram age dependant
  • Ultrasound scans of the breast
  • MRI of the breast
  • Biopsy where needed
  • Drainage of cyst

This is an established rapid access clinic that runs every Thursday evening from 18:00 until 21:00 and is supported by a breast care nurse as your key worker (point of contact). In our rapid access clinic your initial examination, mammogram and ultrasound results will be given to you on the same evening. Any other diagnostics will be discussed with you.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer type in women; however men can also experience breast symptoms. It is important to examine the breasts as per Breast Cancer Care guidelines visit www.breastcancercare.org.uk. for further information and guidance.

Symptoms to look out for: 

  • Swelling to the breast or armpit
  • Lumps or areas feeling thicker
  • Breast appearance to orange peal
  • Shape and size changes
  • Redness on the breast
  • Dimpling on the breast
  • Discharge of the nipple either yellow or red
  • A sudden inversion of the nipple

If you are experiencing pain this symptom usually isn’t linked to breast cancer.

There is no age restriction to screening and self-referral for uninsured patients is accepted, however if you are insured a GP referral is required.
