Can you tell us a little about yourself, background and current role?
I am Ashley Davids, the Clinical Services Manager Theatre at BMI Goring Hall Hospital. I trained in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to the UK in 1998. I started at Goring Hall back in 2001 in theatres,as a scrub nurse. My career developed from Senior Practitioner, Team Leader, Deputy Manager and Theatre Manager.
Describe a typical day/week at BMI Goring Hall Hospital for you?
A day or week at Goring Hall consists of me co-coordinating the operating theatre in terms of consultants and anaesthetist sessions, staff rota management as we operate 6 days a service. Most of my week I liaise between reservations, ward day care and outpatients departments to ensure that the pathway for patient to theatre is a smooth process.
What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
The aspect of my job that I enjoy most is being able to a make a difference in people lives, both patients and staff.
How does your role benefit the patients of the hospital?
Theatre is a very daunting place for everyone, so my job is to ensure that patients are operated on in a timely facet and that they are safe in theatres.
What has been your biggest achievement at BMI Goring Hall Hospital?
It has to be winning the BMI Best Patient Care initiative for the Orthopaedic Enhance Recovery Program in 2011.
What activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I play a musical instrument and am involved in grass root football for children.
