When booking an appointment at Ross Hall Hospital’s cosmetic and plastic surgery unit, you will be given all the information you need to select the right specialist for your needs and be offered an appointment at a time and day that suits you. On the day of the appointment, you will be welcomed by our reception team within the outpatient department.
When you go in to see your consultant, they will first have a detailed talk with you to understand the reasons behind your decision to have surgery, what you want to achieve and your goals. They will also discuss your medical history, whether you've had surgery before and what other options you have considered.
Your consultant will then examine you and take some detailed measurements before discussing the surgical options, including advantages, disadvantages and any risks or complications associated with your specific surgery. This will allow them to assess the extent of surgery required and take account of your exact needs.
In certain circumstances, they may also request that a scan or test be completed. This usually depends on the cosmetic surgery required as well as certain personal aspects that differ between patients. For surgical cosmetic treatments, an imaging scan or test may be completed for patients with existing implants. Non-surgical treatments will seldom require a test.
This process also serves to help you gain an understanding of your true motivations and reasoning behind the cosmetic surgery, as well as providing a clear picture for the specialists.
To ensure you are fully aware of the procedure and are completely confident in your decision, we offer a two-week cooling-off period. If you still want to go ahead with the surgery, your consultant will answer any last questions and provide supportive reassurance before arranging your surgery.
Regardless of the surgery required, we understand that this is a difficult decision to make and will provide with the necessary support and guidance at a comfortable pace leading up to your surgery. The expert consultants will make sure you are fully informed and in control throughout your time with us.
Once you decide on a treatment that’s right for you, your consultant will help you arrange a suitable date for your procedure, and our team will contact you with your fixed-price package details. You’ll be offered a thorough pre-admission assessment appointment to ensure you are fit and healthy ahead of your procedure.
Some procedures are carried out as a day case, but most will require 1-2 nights in hospital. During your hospital stay, you’ll be in your own private room, and well cared for by our nursing teams on the ward, who are dedicated to providing exceptional care during your time with us.
