Private ACP Joint Injection Therapy in Glasgow

Private ACP Joint Injection Therapy in Glasgow

Autologous Conditioned Plasma (ACP) Therapy for osteoarthritis and sports injuries is for the treatment of painful inflammation by activating the body’s own factors in the blood. It is an outpatient procedure that takes less than 30 minutes and is well tolerated by the body as it’s one of the body’s own active substances.

How does Private ACP Joint Injection Therapy work?

  1. Blood is drawn from a vein in the arm.
  2. A separation procedure extracts and concentrates the desired body substances (ACP – Autologous Conditioned Plasma).
  3. These substances are injected into the affected region.

For osteoarthritis - Physical activity is often restricted by osteoarthritis. Typical symptoms in early osteoarthritis include joint ache and morning stiffness as well as pain after long periods of inactivity that subsides after a short walk. These are all caused by wear and tear of the joint cartilage. ACP Therapy is recommended for patients with painful mild to moderate osteoarthritis and can also provide relief in tendinitis.

For sports injuries - If you are currently in rehabilitation or being treated for a sports injury, you can support your body’s self-healing processes. ACP Therapy can support the healing process in most injuries to the locomotor system involving ligaments and tendons as well as in muscle injuries and tendinitis.

Internal Brace

Internal Brace

The Internal Brace has revolutionised the way patients recover and the time in which they do so, is a ‘non-absorbable ribbon’ which can protect and support any ligament repair or reconstruction. It acts like a seatbelt mimicking normal anatomy and providing protection only if the repaired ligament is excessively loaded and at risk of injury.

The brace stabilises the joint, crucially allowing patients to begin light exercise within a week. While exercise is gradually increased in intensity and duration, the ligament/tendon grows through the Internal Brace and then quickly and naturally remodels and, in some cases, reattaches itself to bone.

Because the affected area does not need to be incapacitated, it does not need to be put in a plaster cast, which means minimal loss of condition for the surrounding muscles and a shortened recovery time.
