The centre is staffed by dedicated, accredited radiographers and specialist nurses, and specialist consultant radiologists who report on all images and scans. The results are typically available within 24 hours, urgent reports are available and faxed on the same day.
Referral to the centre is by a referral form from a medical practitioner, supplies of which can be requested from the clinic.
Our dedicated general x-ray room deals with all basic x-ray procedures including orthopaedic radiography, intravenous and urography. All images taken are scanned into our computed radiography archive system and digital (CD) images are available.
The mammography unit is staffed by fully accredited radiographers. The unit offers general mammography as well as more specialised views. The unit is fully equipped for digital stereotactic localisation to aid biopsy and fine needle aspiration of soft tissue lesions.
3/4D baby bonding scans are also available by appointment.
Our 128 slice CT scanner is equipped with two x-ray producing tubes making it one of the fastest CT scanners available. It is capable of very rapid 2D scans of all areas of the body with scan widths down to 0.6mm, this means minimised discomfort for our patients due to very short scanning times.
The scan also produces very detailed 3D images of the whole body including moving organs, bone and blood vessels. Due to the dual source technology we can visualise the whole of the heart and coronary arteries within one single heartbeat.
We also carry out other techniques such as virtual colonoscopy, angiography for neck, brain, renal and peripheral vessels. Procedures to aid stroke assessment are also available.
Cardiac Imaging is performed for Calcium Scoring, which is recommended by NICE as a vital step in diagnosing chest pain. CT Coronary Artery Angiography is also performed.
