BMI The Alexandra Hospital has a private Paediatric Unit that provides ongoing support and treatment for children and young people.
Private ENT services in Manchester include, but are not limited to:
Private Glue Ear/Grommets in Manchester
Glue ear can affect hearing as the ear becomes blocked with a sticky fluid. It is very common in children and an ENT surgeon may recommend inserting grommets, tiny plastic tubes, through the eardrum to allow fluid to drain from the ear.
Private Adenoid Treatment in Manchester
Adenoids are small lumps of tissue that can be found at the back of the nose, above the roof of the mouth. Only children have adenoids and they help support their immune system and fight infection. A child's adenoids can sometimes become swollen or enlarged. This can happen after a bacterial or viral infection, or after a substance triggers an allergic reaction. In most cases, swollen adenoids only cause mild discomfort and treatment isn't needed. However, for some children, it can cause severe discomfort and interfere with their daily life.
Private Sinus Surgery in Manchester
Sinus surgery is suitable for patients who have chronically blocked and sore sinuses. You may experience severe headaches, pain around the face and a loss of smell and taste. Sinus surgery can remove the blockage, treat the pain and improve your quality of life. When your nose is blocked, the sinuses no longer drain. The procedure to clear the sinus opening is called a maxillary antrostomy. We understand that the prospect of surgery may cause you to feel anxious and concerned. At The Alexandra, we pride ourselves on our patient-focused approach as we listen to your concerns and prioritise your health and wellbeing.
Private Tonsillectomy in Manchester
If you regularly have tonsillitis, our ENT consultants may recommend getting a tonsillectomy surgery. This surgery removes the infected tonsils to reduce the chance of contracting tonsillitis again in the future.
Private Thyroid Surgery in Manchester
Thyroid surgery may be recommended as a treatment for an overactive thyroid, ‘thyrotoxicosis,’ or due to swelling in the gland. If your require surgery, an ENT surgeon of your choice will remove the thyroid gland, or part of it.

Whether you have sleep apnoea, are snoring too loudly or generally struggle to sleep at night, our ENT surgeons will provide you with a quick diagnosis and treatment plan that is tailored to you. In some cases, they may recommend Uvulopalatoplasty to reduce your snoring. This is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to remove parts of, or all, of the uvula at the rear of the mouth.
Private Septoplasty in Manchester
Septoplasty surgery corrects problems with the nasal septum – the cartilage and bone that separates the two sides of the nasal cavity. If you have a blocked nose, it may be due to the septum. As a result, you may require an operation to correct this.
Private Nasal Endoscope in Manchester
A nasal endoscopy is used to inspect the sinus passages and throat. An ENT surgeon will use an endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a built-in camera, to help determine the diagnosis.
You may need a nasal endoscope if you are experiencing:
- Pain or discomfort in the nose or throat
- Regular nosebleeds
- Ear pain
