98.8% of patients say they would recommend BMI The Beardwood Hospital to their friends and family

Beardwood patient satisfaction survey results

Feedback from patients at BMI The Beardwood Hospital in Blackburn has shown that 98.8% of those who received care there would recommend the hospital to their family and friends.

In addition, 98.2% agree that the quality of their nursing care was very good or excellent and 96.1% would apply the same high rating to the standard of their accommodation.

The figures for the independent hospital on Preston New Road were the findings of the independent survey operator Quality Health, which analysed responses of 4521 patients who responded between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017.

Mr Richard Boden, Lower Limb, Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant commented, "Education is paramount to providing exceptional care to patients and feedback is an essential part of education. I am exceptionally proud and fortunate to receive positive feedback from patients here at The Beardwood Hospital, I take all feedback seriously and use it to perfect the treatment I offer.

"As an Orthopaedic surgeon I strive to perform the highest quality of surgery using the most advanced materials and techniques. As a doctor I want to give patients the best health and function they can gain. I am grateful for all feedback on the care I give at Beardwood hospital; it is always used to guide my practice for the future."

The figures have been well received by the 180 staff who work at the hospital, providing care for NHS-funded patients, insured patients and those who choose to pay for themselves.

Over the past year, the hospital has seen the opening of the McGrath Suite day-case unit, a six-bedded day-case suite named in honour of the hospital’s longest-serving team member, Sister Pat McGrath. The new suite was developed in line with modern healthcare needs, whereby techniques have improved so much that people who might have otherwise needed an overnight stay after their operation can now return home the same day.

Within the past 12 months, the hospital has also been rated as 'good' by the independent regulator the Care Quality Commission. The hospital is looking forward to ensuring each patient continues to receive a high standard of care in 2018.

The independent survey also showed high percentage scores across all assessed criteria, with ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ for physiotherapy (94.3%), pharmacy (96.3%), and catering (92.6%). In addition, 96.4% said that their overall impression of diagnostic imaging was 'very good' or 'excellent'.

Quality Health also provides the same survey analysis and questions across the NHS.
