Rapid assessment and access to diagnostic facilities and referral to a consultant if necessary
The Sports Injury Clinic is a unique, multidisciplinary clinic and consists of a team of specialist Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and Clinical Physiotherapists, whose expertise is in sports and exercise medicine.
The majority of sports injuries are non-surgical; getting seen early is important to ensure your condition is assessed without delay and the right treatment is given.
At your first appointment you will be assessed by the Lead Clinical Physiotherapist for an initial diagnosis. You may find that surgical intervention is not needed, in which case a course of physiotherapy could be offered. BMI The Beardwood Hospital has a team of dynamic physiotherapists with appointments to suit your schedule.
Conditions treated include:
- At your first appointment a detailed history will be taken, followed by a thorough assessment of your condition. This enables your physiotherapist to establish your baseline function, from which they can measure your improvement.
- You will receive expert advice and treatment with a personal programme tailored to your needs.
- Your physiotherapist can also refer you to a consultant and arrange rapid access, when necessary, to our diagnostic facilities including MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound and CT.
- Your physiotherapist can liaise with your GP or consultant and provide a detailed discharge summary at the end of your treatment.
