The Becket Suite, the Chaucer Hospital’s dedicated oncology unit, holds the Macmillan Quality Environmental Mark.
This is a prestigious award given to cancer care environments that meet Macmillan’s high quality standards.
Specialist nursing care at all stages of cancer treatment
Our specialist nurses can advise about all aspects of cancer care. They are on hand every time a patient visits The Becket Suite and are available 24/ 7 to take calls from patients, GPs and consultants. Two of our specialist nurses have been part of the Chaucer Hospital’s oncology team for over 25 years, helping shape and develop the cancer services offered. The Macmillan Trust has adopted our oncology nurses and continues to support their education and development.
We also have our own oncology support group, Chaucer Chatters. It’s free and open to anyone who has been affected by cancer, including patient’s friends and families. Find out more.
Multi-disciplinary oncology team
Patients can be assured they will receive the best possible cancer care at The Chaucer Hospital. As well as our specialist nurses our multi-disciplinary oncology team consists of:
Consultant Haematologists/ Oncologists with a wide range of expertise in all types of cancers
Imaging department equipped with MRI and CT scanning facilities to help patients get prompt, accurate diagnosis
Onsite pharmacist to discuss and review medication and ensure treatment is administered in a timely manner
