BMI Healthcare South Buckinghamshire Hospitals kicked off the second year of their partnership with the Chairboys for a special visit to the club’s training ground for their Executive Director, Fraser Dawson.
The Official Healthcare Providers to the club have proved to be an invaluable resource for Wanderers players since the launch of the partnership last season, conducting medical assessments for new signings Sam Saunders, Adam El-Abd and Nathan Tyson, as well as administering treatment to the likes of Max Muller and Anthony Stewart during their recovery from injury.
BMI Healthcare have two hospitals local to the club – The Chiltern and Shelburne – as well as the Paddocks Clinic, and are the largest provider of private independent healthcare in the UK, offering rapid access to diagnostic services such as bone density scanners, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, as well as physiotherapy and operating theatres.
Fraser’s visit to the training ground included a tour of the facilities, lunch with the management staff and the opportunity to watch the Blues prepare for their ultimately successful trip to Port Vale at the weekend
He said: “It was fantastic to gain an insight into the hard work that goes into preparing the team for a matchday, and the meticulous nature of the planning not just on the football side but also on the medical side in terms of nutrition, strength and conditioning, and rest and recovery.
“We’re really proud of our association with the club and everyone, from Gareth and his staff to the players and the office staff behind the scenes, have embraced the partnership and been a pleasure to work with.”
Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Fraser to the training ground and we’re very grateful for the support of all the staff at the BMI Healthcare local hospitals, who have now become regular visitors to Adams Park on matchdays.
“Injuries are part and parcel of football but it’s a massive reassurance for us to know that we have such first-class facilities available to us at BMI, and we’re extremely grateful that they have agreed to extend our partnership for a second year.”
