Gynaecology in Harrow

Diagnosing and effectively treating all diseases and conditions of the female reproductive system

Our gynaecology consultants are experts in quickly diagnosing and effectively treating all diseases and conditions of the reproductive system.

They offer a caring, empathetic and holistic approach to care that takes account of both body and mind, ensuring the physical, emotional and social aspects of any condition are treated.

Patients come to us with a wide range of concerns, but the most common of these are:

  • General gynae, including menstrual irregularity, sexual problems, pelvic pain, bloating and abdominal discomfort, and bleeding after menopause
  • Fertility, particularly concerns around conception
  • Cancer screening and treatment for ovarian, endometrial and uterine cancers
  • Urogynaecology, including leakage, incontinence, uterine prolapse, urinary tract infections, bladder pain, and pelvic floor injury (after childbirth)
  • Early pregnancy problems, such as recurrent miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and early pregnancy problems

Most of the symptoms patients want to talk to us about are benign (and often caused by hormonal fluctuations) and need nothing more than explanation and reassurance.

In all other cases, our consultants will aim to prevent (e.g. via cancer screening), manage, or cure the problem to ensure you have the best quality of life possible.

But whatever your circumstances, you are assured a highly personalised service where both your diagnosis and treatment will be carried out at a time and in a way that best suits you.

Our goal is to make private healthcare accessible and affordable for all, and we have very competitively priced self-pay packages, along with payment plan options if you are coming to us direct (rather than via GP or insurance referral).

Our consultants are leaders in their field and have access to cutting-edge diagnostic equipment.

Our consultants will suggest the most appropriate solution from a range of options that might include:

  • Lifestyle: diet and exercise, promoting a healthy microbiome (in the gut), mindfulness (particularly to help avoid weight gain), physio- and psychotherapy (for example, to treat pelvic pain)
  • Medical: tablets (e.g. for menstrual disorders and fertility) and painkillers
  • Surgical: most procedures are minimally invasive keyhole (arthroscopic) procedures and have excellent prognosis. In some cases, surgery can be used to diagnose and treat a condition at the same time (e.g. laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis)

Our consultants will always discuss all the treatment options available in-depth and in plain English.

Whatever the treatment plan you agree, you can be assured of a solution that is seamless and tailor-made for your circumstances.

You are also assured of seeing the same consultant throughout your treatment.

We use a multi-disciplinary team approach, through which your specialist may work with a wide range of colleagues, such as physiotherapists, radiologists, pain management experts (anaesthetists and psychotherapists), oncologists and specialist menopause services.

This approach ensures complete and holistic care, all conveniently available on one site.

From the first moment you come to us to the moment you are discharged, we aim to make the process as speedy, convenient and reassuring as possible for you.

Referral

Your journey will start with a referral.

We accept referrals from GPs or health insurance providers, as well as from private patients who book a consultation directly.

We aim to arrange a private consultation for you within as little as 48 hours from referral or first contact, at a time that is convenient for you.

Consultation

During your initial consultation, which will last around half-an-hour, your consultant will talk with you about your specific circumstances and needs.

They will take a thorough medical history and conduct a physical exam.

At this stage, they might request further investigations, such as blood tests or a scan (usually ultrasound or MRI) of a gland.

If further investigations are needed and a diagnosis cannot be made straight away, we will organise a follow-up appointment in around a week, at a time that is convenient for you.

Following their diagnosis, your specialist will go through your results in plain English, so you are able to make an informed decision on treatment.

Treatment and after-care

As we have noted, there is a range of possible treatment paths that your consultant might suggest.

Medical treatments can be obtained in our on-site pharmacy.

If more conservative routes have been exhausted, and you need surgery, this can normally be arranged in around two weeks and will take place in one of our state-of-the-art operating theatres.

Dependent on the treatment plan you have agreed, your consultant may see you for a follow-up (or follow-ups) to check on your progress.
