;Katherine Lester from Suffolk was first diagnosed with endometriosis in June 2014, following symptoms of exceptionally heavy periods and continuous abdominal pain 6 months prior. Following two failed operations to correct the stage 3 condition via her local NHS trust, she decided to do her own research into who was the best specialist gynaecologist to help her.
It was through one of her endometriosis online support groups she found Mr Christopher Mann and the BMI Edgbaston Hospital. She travelled all the way to Birmingham to see Mr Mann privately as she’d read such great things about him and has been absolutely thrilled with the results ever since.
Katherine had two operations with Mr Mann. After her second operation Katherine was able to go back to work and currently works as an Apprentice Letting Agent. This in itself was life changing for her as, she’d been signed off sick for over 2 years and was dismissed from her previous job in retail through ill health.
“Mr Mann improved my health so much I could return to work which I was so grateful for, I could finally have my independence back!”
Katherine and her partner started trying for a baby four months after her first operation with Mr Mann, but the months would roll by and each month they faced the disappointment of failing to conceive. Concerned there was something wrong, she decided to seek fertility advice from a local fertility specialist. On her 21st birthday, Katherine was told she’d need IVF in order to have a baby, however just one month later, a miracle happened and she found out she was pregnant with her first child.
Charlotte Grace was born at 8:29am on the 9th November 2017, weighing 8.3lb. The pregnancy and delivery went smoothly and Katherine luckily hasn't experienced any problems since. She said, “It was always in the back of my mind that my endometriosis would affect my ability to conceive but following Mr Mann’s skill and willingness to help me, I am now the very proud mummy of a beautiful baby girl and it is all thanks to him! For that I will never be able to thank him enough. He’s changed my life.”
