Private shoulder surgery in Huddersfield

Get fast access to personalised care from our team of shoulder experts at BMI The Huddersfield Hospital.

Shoulder problems can come as the result of a range of joint pain conditions as well as traumatic accidents. Although they can be extremely painful, there are many treatment options available to help you manage your pain. This could be anything from gentle physiotherapy to total shoulder replacement and shoulder repair surgery.

At BMI The Huddersfield Hospital, we offer fast access to treatment by our expert, multidisciplinary teams. Our specialists will build a tailored treatment plan just for you, working together throughout your healthcare journey to ensure you experience a fast, effective recovery.

If you need shoulder surgery, we offer fast access to a variety of procedures including:

Shoulder arthroscopy

This procedure can both investigate and treat your shoulder pain. During the operation, an arthroscope (a thin tube with a camera attached to it) will be passed through a small incision on the back of your shoulder. This is connected to a video monitor, which allows your Consultant Surgeon to look inside your shoulder to determine the cause of your pain. It also allows them to carry out a range of surgical options, if needed.

Shoulder repair surgery with arthroscopy

Depending on the type and extent of damage to your shoulder joint, your Consultant might need to perform repair surgery using the arthroscopic technique described above.

Shoulder surgery with arthroscopy to decompress your joint

A compressed shoulder occurs when your rotator cuff muscles become “pinched”. This causes aching pain and reduced mobility. This form of shoulder repair surgery helps decompress these muscles and repair any bone damage to your shoulder.

Open shoulder repair operation

An open shoulder repair surgery describes a traditional shoulder repair surgery that is typically more invasive. Your Consultant will make a deeper incision to access your shoulder during open surgery than they would during arthroscopic surgery.

Shoulder replacement surgery

Shoulder replacement surgery will be recommended if we aren’t able to manage your shoulder pain with less invasive treatments such as physiotherapy and medication. It involves removing damaged elements of your shoulder joint and replacing them with an artificial joint, also known as a prosthesis.
