Hockey World Cup qualifiers semifinal supported by BMI The London Independent Hospital

BMI The London Independent hospital worked alongside the Hockey World League World Cup Qualifiers semi-finals at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in June. Players from the tournament had access to our Imaging and Diagnostics team and suite of equipment, expert radiologists and specialist consultants should they have needed an onward referral.

Specialist consultants from Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Oral and Maxillofacial, ENT and Radiology were on call to support any players who needed urgent care throughout the tournament.

Sunny Chada, Executive Director at BMI The London Independent hospital said “Working with the Medical Directors for GB Hockey and the tournament organisers really cements our position as experts in Sports Medicine. Going back to 2012 the hospital supported Olympians with imaging and surgery, and our doctors are renowned for providing elite athletes with expert care”.

Dr Amir Pakravan, Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine, and the Tournament Medical Director, said “Thank you for the support and superb service you provided through the World League Tournament. I am well aware of the extra mile you went to ensure the athletes I referred received a timely and high quality service. The timely MRI and report for one athlete in particular was crucial in making a quick decision for the player.”
