Anne McGregor, the Executive Director at BMI The Manor Hospital is to leave after 33 years.
Anne joined BMI as a Ward nurse in 1983 and was promoted to Executive Director in 1996. Over her years at the helm, she has seen over 400,000 patients come through the door. The changes and growth of the hospital, including endoscopy, physio and health assessments has helped the business grow from strength to strength. As part of her tenure she has also been instrumental in raising money for local charities. Most recently The Manor raised £2679.33 for the Bedfordshire Air Ambulance.
McGregor said: “I have no idea where the last 33 years have gone!! When I started at the Manor my girls were 4 and 5 years of age they are now married with three children each!
I came to the Manor as a bank nurse doing one night a week, what happened?!
I have seen the Manor through changes of ownerships, changes to facilities, changes to consultants and staff.
The Manor also gave me the opportunity to return to formal studies at the age of 40! (A shock to the system!), to gain management qualifications to enable me to take on the ED role 20 years ago.
I have enjoyed the challenges at the Manor and the way that we work as a team for our patients. As with any organisation their most valuable asset is the staff, and this is the part that I will miss the most. They are all individuals, have their own behaviours and personalities but there’s no doubting their commitment to ensuring the patients have good outcomes and their expectations are met.”
Mr Ajit Garde, Consultant Surgeon at BMI The Manor Hospital said: “I have known Anne for three years and it has been a pleasure working with her. She has been responsible for overall development and we will dearly miss her experience and leadership.
Anne’s replacement is Adrian Brady who brings twelve years experience working at Spire Healthcare. Brady said about his appointment: “I am very excited to being part of the team at BMI The Manor Hospital and continuing the excellent work that has been led by Anne.”
