BMI Healthcare is investing £4m in providing better, more advanced facilities for patients and staff at BMI The Priory Hospital in Birmingham.
The financial investment, which will fund changes over the next 12 months, is just the first phase in a comprehensive improvement programme, which demonstrates BMI Healthcare’s commitment to the hospital and its patients.
This first phase will allow the hospital to deliver a number of significant projects:
- The development of a dedicated state-of-the-art cancer centre at the hospital with new consulting rooms, new patient ‘pods’ for day case treatments and 10 en-suite inpatient bedrooms. This will enable the hospital to offer a wider range of cancer treatments and services to more patients.
- The creation of a dedicated MRI and CT centre on the ground floor of the hospital and the installation of the latest generation technology in MRI and CT scanners.
- The hospital’s ground floor, including the main entrance and lobby area will be refurbished to create a fresh, new look and better facilities to welcome patients to the hospital.
The Priory Hospital, which is located in Edgbaston, Birmingham, attracts some of the country’s most eminent surgeons and specialist clinics. It has been providing care to patients for the last 35 years.
The hospital currently has 118 registered bedrooms, six operating theatres and – unlike many private hospitals - a six bed Critical Care Unit
. These facilities, combined with the latest in technology and on-site support services, enable the hospital’s consultants to carry out a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery.
Tony Avery, Executive Director at BMI The Priory Hospital, said the £4m financial investment will ensure that the hospital continues to provide excellent care, making more state of the art health services available to patients.
“This substantial investment in new and improved services, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to patients in the region, to continue providing them with the very best healthcare and technology possible.
“These are exciting developments for both patients and staff. We will see brand new services being offered to patients and staff will have access to even more advanced medical facilities at the hospital”.
The building works will begin at BMI The Priory Hospital later this year and will be completed by the end of the summer, 2017.
BMI The Edgbaston Hospital
on Somerset Road, Edgbaston will also benefit from further financial investment. Building work has already started at the hospital and there are further plans to refurbish the interior of the hospital to improve the overall environment and make it even more welcoming for patients.
