Whether you are a professional athlete, a sports enthusiast or you just like to keep fit, a sports injury can severely impact your performance, lifestyle and even your ability to work.
The Sports Injuries service at BMI The Saxon Clinic provides patients with quick access to MSK and sports injury specialists who will work with you to develop a personalised recovery programme aimed at getting you back to optimal fitness as soon as possible.
As part of our Sports Injuries service you will have fast, easy access to the following services:
Our team of chartered physiotherapists have specialist knowledge and skills working in sports injury rehabilitation, and many of the team having gained extensive experience through working with professional sports clubs and athletes.
Should you choose to come to Physiotherapy at The Saxon Clinic for your treatment, you will receive a comprehensive initial assessment with a physiotherapist to help diagnose the problem. If deemed necessary following the assessment they can refer you on for MRI, Ultrasound or x-ray scan for further investigation. Following diagnosis your physiotherapist will then work with you to build an individual and tailored treatment plan, centred around your requirements and lifestyle.
Whilst we will always aim to achieve rehabilitation with physiotherapy, sometimes issues that continue to persist may need additional intervention. In those instances, your Physiotherapists can refer you directly onto one of our Consultant Specialists for further treatment, saving time and making the journey to recovery as smooth as possible for you.
Our Physiotherapy services are provided both for inpatient’s rehabilitation and for outpatients who self-refer. The problems we treat include but are not limited to:
- Ankle sprains
- Knee ligament injuries
- Groin Strain
- Achilles strain
- Achilles tendinopathy

At the BMI The Saxon Clinic we benefit from on-site access to a range of diagnostics facilities including MRI, X-Ray and Ultrasound and we have a multi-disciplinary team of experts who can help facilitate fast onward referral where required.
Operated by a team of fully accredited and highly skilled Radiographers, Specialist Consultant Radiologists and friendly Imaging Assistants, our diagnostic imaging and MRI services include:
- X-ray including orthopantomography (specialised panoramic dental imaging)
- MRI scanning
- Interventional radiology including fibroid embolization
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
- Barium enema
- Cardiac catheterisation
- Liver biopsy
- Lung biopsy
- Uterine artery embolisation
Examinations usually take between 20 and 40 minutes but not all of that time is taken up by actual scanning.
In order to enhance the image of certain parts of the body, a contrast agent may be given orally or intravenously. Patients may, therefore, be required to arrive an hour before their examination time so that this can be administered.
We have numerous Consultants who specialise in Orthopaedic and Trauma injuries and pain management. Should your condition require further investigation and more comprehensive treatment our Consultants can see you usually within 48 hours of referral.
