Executive Director places patients first

BMI Thornbury Hospital’s new executive director, Kosta Antoniou, has joined the 250-strong healthcare team at the start of a significant refurbishment and service improvement programme.

The needs of patients undergoing operations or x-rays and other scans have been placed at the heart of a series of new healthcare services at the hospital – the largest private hospital in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

Improvements are being driven across areas such as operating theatres and imaging, as well as refurbishment in core patient areas. The hospital team is also developing care pathways aligned with best practice in clinical care, safety and speed of recovery.

Kosta’s background in sales, people and customer service was gained on previous roles at Somerfield Stores, Pets at Home, Co-operative Healthcare and Lloyds Pharmacy.

Kosta said: “My strong belief is that patients are the most important people we come into contact with. Patient satisfaction and a commitment to excellence is what we are here to deliver for all our patients. The investment in refurbishments and service improvements will go a long way in helping with the patient experience, however our team commitment and passion to ensure we provide an excellence service will always be our aim.”

Chris Buckingham, regional director for BMI Thornbury’s parent company BMI Healthcare, said: “Thornbury Hospital is one of our top hospitals and, to build on the success that the hospital has enjoyed over the past few years, and we had been looking for a leader with the right blend of operational experience and people focus to support our fantastic team of staff and consultants. Kosta’s high standards of quality and patient experience, and his drive and enthusiasm will continue to raise the bar still higher.”
