There are many reasons people come to us for cosmetic surgery; they might want improved body image, more self-confidence, or to relieve pain or discomfort.

Others want to change or remove a feature that concerns them, or simply be able to wear certain clothes.

Whatever your reasons for considering cosmetic surgery, our consultants are experts in their field and will offer you an empathetic and unrushed service.

All your options will be carefully considered and discussed, and there will never be any pressure to undergo treatment.

Our surgeons’ years of experience mean you are assured the best possible results from any procedure you do choose to have. They regularly undertake:

Skin surgery

  • Skin cancer surgery
  • Mole and skin lesion removal
  • Scar revision

Facial surgery:

  • Eyelid surgery (upper and/or lower blepharoplasty): for example, to remove puffy eye bags below your eyes or drooping upper lids
  • Facelift: to restore a more youthful and vital appearance
  • Mini facelift: often for younger patients with minimal skin looseness
  • Neck lift: this can be done alone or as part of a facelift
  • Ear Correction: to set prominent ears back closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears

Breast surgery

  • Breast augmentation: cosmetically enhancing the size of a woman’s breasts
  • Breast reduction: making breasts smaller and better shaped, in terms of proportion to the rest of the body
  • Breast Uplift (mastopexy): restoring the shape of breasts, often after pregnancy, breast feeding, weight loss and simply the passage of time
  • Nipple correction: to fix inverted nipples
  • Gynaecomastia: to reduce excess male breast tissue (which causes so-called man-boobs or ‘moobs’)

Body contouring

  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck): where the abdomen is made flatter and firmer, often after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Arm reduction: contouring the arms, giving them a more streamlined appearance by removing excess skin or fat
  • Thigh reduction or lift: removing loose or hanging skin and fat, giving the thighs a more streamlined appearance

When you come to Three Shires you are assured of seeing a leading consultant. Your treatment will be managed quickly and seamlessly in-house using state-of-the-art equipment.

If you are coming to us directly (rather than via GP or insurance referral), we offer very competitively priced self-pay packages, along with payment plan options to help make private healthcare accessible and affordable for all.

We will do everything we can to make your patient experience as speedy, comfortable and reassuring as possible.

While there is no ‘typical’ patient, you can expect to go through these steps:

STEP1: Initial consultation

Our consultant will talk to you for around 30 minutes about your specific circumstances and needs.

We always take great care to ensure patients are suitable candidates for surgery, both in terms of their physical and mental health.

Your surgeon will listen carefully to your concerns and take a comprehensive medical, social and lifestyle history. They will then do a clinical examination (in the presence of a chaperone, if desired).

If you both decide surgery is right for you, you will look together at the range of options available and discuss a treatment plan. This will include a careful look at all the benefits, risks and alternatives to any procedure.

It is also very important at this stage that you understand what surgery can reasonably achieve (something many providers gloss over or ignore).

STEP 2: Second consultation

This is usually a couple of weeks after the first consultation, giving you plenty of time to consider your options and whether to proceed.

At this meeting your surgeon will make sure you fully understand the nature of your surgery, any scarring that will occur, the time you will need to take off work, and other relevant details.

There will never be any pressure to proceed and no rush – unless the issue requires urgent attention, like skin cancer.

STEP 3: Treatment and after-care

If there is a non-surgical solution available to you and you choose that – for example, fillers or laser treatment – this can be quickly arranged.

If you decide on surgery, you will meet a clinical psychologist for assessment prior to surgery.

Your procedure will follow shortly thereafter. You will be in the care our excellent team of theatre and nursing staff, who will make your brief stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Following your surgery you will have a follow-up consultation (or consultations if needed) with your surgeon to monitor your recovery and progress.
