Can you tell us a little about yourself, background and current role?
I am the Clinical Services Manager for Physiotherapy at BMI Woodlands Hospital. I have been at Woodlands for almost seven years and have spent 14 years with BMI as a company.
I am responsible for running the outpatient and inpatient Physiotherapy service. We currently have 14 Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants in our team, covering a wide range of specialities.
Describe a typical day/week at BMI Woodlands Hospital for you?
Most days start with an early morning clinic, treating post-operative rehabilitation or sports injury patients. During the day I may need to schedule or attend meetings in my managerial role.
I also run a consultant clinic with one of the orthopaedic surgeons for post-operative reviews.
What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the mix of clinical and managerial aspects of the role, and I have always enjoyed the variety of patients I get to see every day.
How does your role benefit the patients of the hospital?
I provide treatment directly to patients. As a clinical supervisor, I have to be responsible for the protocols and ultimately, the treatment provided by everyone in my team.
What has been your biggest achievement at BMI Woodlands Hospital?
Over the past six-seven years we have grown from three to 14 therapists. Our department now sees over 200 new patients every month.
What activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I am father of two lovely children aged five and eight, and this takes up most of my time, but when I can, I try to get out on my road bike and cycle the hills of the North York Moors.
Thanks for your time, Dallas.
