Additionally, a clinical treatment room is used for minor operative procedures, wound care clinics, and nurse led clinics.

A member of your healthcare team is always available to provide patients with food and refreshments, whilst special light meals are prepared for those patients who have undergone general anaesthetic.

We are happy to cater for patients and visitors who have special dietary requirements. Visitors are also welcome to join patients for meals in their rooms but there will be a small charge for this facility.

Ambulatory care (surgical day case unit)
A surgical day case is a patient who is admitted for an operation on a planned non-resident basis who still requires facilities for recovery. The whole procedure should not require an overnight stay in a hospital bed.

The benefits of day surgery include a shorter time away from family members, less anxiety due to the being in the comfort of your own home after surgery, and the possibility of recovery in a familiar setting, as well as:

-Facilitating speedier recovery
-Better outcomes as patients follow an evidence-based pathway of care
-The reduced risk of patients contracting hospital acquired infections as generally there are lower infection rates in day case units
-Patient satisfaction is high
Common procedures appropriate for day case or ambulatory care are routine and common surgical procedures such as surgery for cataracts, hernias, varicose veins, and hand conditions although many more procedures can be performed in day case units if the patients are prepared adequately.
