Paediatric haematology (blood disorders)

What is paediatric haematology?

Paediatric haematology is the study of children's blood diseases.

What do paediatric haematologists do?

Paediatric haematologists will diagnose and treat children with general haematological problems such as anaemia, neutropenia or thrombocytopenia, haemolytic anaemia, aplastic anaemia and abnormal bruising or bleeding.

Paying for the treatment

The costs of haematology treatment are covered by most medical insurance policies, but please check with your insurer first. If you are paying for your own treatment the cost will be explained and confirmed in writing when you book.

Ask the hospital for a quote beforehand, and ensure that this includes all associated costs.
