Shoulder impingement

A shoulder impingement is a common cause of shoulder pain

According to the NHS, a shoulder impingement is when a shoulder tendon (a fibrous band of tissue inside your shoulder) rubs on nearby tissue and bone as you raise your arm.

It can cause pain on the outside of your shoulder and you might experience weakness in your arm. This pain can affect your sleep and quality of life.

A shoulder impingement may improve with time and appropriate shoulder exercises.
