These warty lesions are caused by a virus which infects the cells that produce new skin. Book your treatment online today.
Most verrucae resolve by themselves if left for 12 months. If painful or persistent then they can be frozen with a liquid nitrogen spray (cryosurgery), cauterised by Electrosurgery or repeatedly punctured with a sterile needle to attract the body’s own healing cells. Electrosurgery and needling is done under a local anaesthetic.
How safe are the treatments?
Cryosurgery can be slightly uncomfortable (similar to holding an ice cube on your skin for 30 seconds) and can leave an area of depigmented paler skin behind. Electrosurgery and needling leave a small wound behind which needs to be kept clean to prevent infection whilst healing.
