Arif Khan is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with a special interest in laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) at BMI Alexandra Hospital Manchester and BMI South Cheshire Private Hospital in Cheshire.
He trained in London Deanery at the University College Hospital London and was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon at Mid Cheshire NHS Foundation Trust in 2006. He was the Colorectal Lead and Chairperson for the Enhance Recovery Programme in Colorectal Surgery at the Trust.
His experience in colorectal surgery includes diagnosis and surgical treatment of benign and malignant colorectal conditions. He is an expert in minimally invasive haemorrhoids surgery (THD procedure), diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel conditions. His expertise includes keyhole surgery for colorectal cancer. He is a JAG approved endoscopist and preforms diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. He has longstanding interest in keyhole repair of groin hernias. He also provides consultations in the diagnosis and surgical management of gall bladder disease.
Mr Khan is an educational supervisor and a national trainer for the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Programme and a national trainer for minimally invasive haemorrhoidal surgery. He is a faculty member for FRCS and MRCS endorsed courses of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
